Barcelona, Spain.
During three years, she balanced journalism studies at UAB and acting studies at the Instituto del Teatro de Barcelona, where she obtained her degree. She completed solfege and five years of cello at the Conservatorio de Música de Badalona. She began her professional career at the age of 19 with a Franco-Italian Commedia dell’arte company, premiering at the Mercat de les Flors de Barcelona. She took the two pieces by Goldoni to Montpellier and Torino. Under the direction of director Josep Maria Mestres, she began working on various projects at the Teatre Lliure de Barcelona, starring in plays like Romeo and Juliet, Fashion Feeling Music, and classics by Josep Maria de Sagarra such as The Daughter of the Sea or Terra baixa at the Teatro Nacional de Catalunya.
In the year 2000, she starred alongside Quim Gutiérrez in Some Explicit Polaroids at the Teatre Lliure de Gràcia during the Festival Grec de Barcelona. Her first musical came from the hand of Dagoll Dagom at the Inauguration of the 2003 Festival Grec, where she starred in the operetta La Perritxola by Offenbach, receiving the Butaca Award for Best Musical Actress.
In 2005, her theatrical career was consolidated with A Boston Marriage by David Mamet, at the same Lliure Theater, sharing the stage with her great reference, actress Anna Lizarán, with whom she would work again years later at the Teatro Nacional with Brecht plays directed by Oriol Broggi.
Her notable works came from the hand of Luís Pasqual, with whom she brought to the stage The House of Bernarda Alba, starring Núria Espert and Rosa Maria Sardá. With this play, she visited the Piccolo Theater in Milan. She repeated in 2007 with Pasqual with Mòbil by Sergi Belbel and later with Quitt by Peter Handke, starring Eduard Fernández and her father Luis Marco, also a recognized actor with whom she had already shared the stage in Six Characters in Search of an Author directed by Joan Ollé at the Montjuic Lliure Theater.
In 2009, she starred in her first monologue, My Name is Rachel Corrie, a committed text about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It premiered at the Teatro Principal de Vitoria and toured Spain and Catalonia.
Her work in theater continued with directors like Fernando Bernués, Georges Lavaudant, and Julio Manrique, with whom she starred in successful plays like The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, a recognized best-seller adapted for the theater by Mark Haddon, for which she received the Butaca Award for Best Supporting Actress.
In the past two years, she has been awarded the Critics’ Award for Best Actress for Las chicas de Mossbank Road, a play directed by Silvia Munt, which was a great success, and she was also nominated for Best Actress for La reina de la belleza de Leenane by Martin McDonagh, directed by Julio Manrique.
Starting in 2002, Marta combined theater productions with different TV series produced by TV3 and Diagonal TV. Among the most well-known are Ventdelplà with three seasons. In 2009, she starred in 90-60-90, a series produced by Diagonal TV broadcast on Antena3. She also worked on the mini-series La Duquesa and Pelotas, directed by Juan Cruz and José Corbacho.
In 2015, she starred in an episode of Cites while filming the renowned series Merlí with Varanda Films, starring Francesc Orella, where she played the character of Gina.
Her film work includes titles such as Mala Uva in 2004, Fuerte Apache in 2007, Xtrems directed by Abel Folk in 2009, and three TV movies directed by Silvia Munt such as Cosas que pasan and Mueblé.
In 2022, she premiered the film Sis nits d’agost, directed by Ventura Durall, which won the Gaudí Award for Best Television Film. It tells the story of a writer investigating the death of Catalan philosopher and activist Lluís Maria Xirinacs.
Some of her recent works in theater are Bèsties, premiered in 2023, in which she is the sole performer and portrays a psychotherapist discussing a girl who wants to have a breast augmentation and the influence that popular culture can have on the hypersexualization of children. La Trena, an acclaimed adaptation of Laetitia Colombani’s text that explores the quest for freedom of three women from diverse backgrounds, which will return to the stage in 2024. And Malamort, a thriller directed by Daniela Feixas.
