After graduating from the Cours Florent school in Paris and London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Hugo Becker earned recognition as one of the Young Talents at the Cannes Film Festival in 2010.
In the same year he made his cinematic debut in Julien Leclercq’s L’Assaut, taking the part of a young policeman. Later he would take on other roles including that of an alcoholic hitch-hiker in Eric Valette’s La Proie, a student in Marie Castille Schaar’s Ma Premiére fois, and a young businessman in Pascale Pouzadoux’s La Croisiére.
Hugo also appeared in the American television series Gossip Girl– alongside Blake Lively and Leighton Meester- in two episodes filmed in Paris and in which he performed the part of Louis Grimaldi, Prince of Monaco. He returned to this role for a further twenty episodes of the fifth season, this time with filming taking place in New York.
In 2011, he took a leading role in Damsels in Distres, directed by Whit Stillman- who was nominated for an Oscar for his film Metropolitan- with Greta Gerwing, Aubrey Plaza and Adam Brody. The film closed the 68th edition of the Venice Film Festival and gained selection to the Toronto Film Festival.
A year later Hugo played the part of Antoine Lavousier in the mini-series Mystery of Matter under the direction of M. Meyer. In 2013 he formed part of Drake Doremus’s Breath In– with Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce- and appeared on the television series Jo alongside Jean Reno.
In 2014 Hugo took on the role of Isaac Dreyfus, a famous football player involved in terrorist attacks in two episodes of the BBC2 series Silent Witness. He also performed the part of Romain in the miniseries Chefs, working alongside Clovis Cronillac. The role earned him an Adami Award for Best New Actor at the Luchon Film Festival.
During 2015, Hugo has played a leading role in the French Series Au Service de la France– created by Francois Halin- for Canal Arte. He also joined Yon Gonzalez and Lluis Homar for the second series of Antena 3’s Bajo Sospecha.
