From a very young age, she knew she wanted to be an actress. She soon began her training to start her career in film and television.
Her professional debut in cinema came in 1998, under the direction of Salvador García Ruiz, with the film Mensaka, for which she received the award for Best New Actress from the Union of Actors. Since then, she has participated in over thirty Spanish and French films, including those directed by Almodóvar Hable con ella, Los abrazos rotos, Los amantes pasajeros, and Volver, a film for which she won the Best Female Performance Award at the Cannes Film Festival; Mar adentro by Amenábar and Yo, también by Álvaro Pastor and Antonio Naharro, for which she has received the Goya Awards for Best Performance; Alleluia, directed by Fabrice Du Welz, No sé decir adiós by Lino Escalera, and Viaje al cuarto de una madre by Celia Rico. She has received numerous accolades for her work in all of these films. Her latest film, Sobre todo de noche, a film noir-tinged drama directed by Víctor Iriarte in which Manuel Egozkue also participates, has recently been released in theaters.
In television, she stands out for her participation in the series Instinto for Movistar + and Veneno for Atresplayer. Her most recent series is La Mesías by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, recently premiered on Movistar +. In this thriller, Lola plays Montserrat Baró, a religious mother who believes that God communicates with her to give her the mission of saving the world through her daughters.
