1975, Madrid

Born to a British mother and a Spanish father from Cádiz, her first professional aspiration was to be a dancer, and she began her ballet studies at the age of eight. However, her dream was cut short by a knee injury. Determined to become an actress, she made her initial foray into amateur theater until she made her film debut in 1993 with Jardines colgantes directed by Pablo Llorca.

Subsequently, she moved to London to study at the Actor’s Center, benefiting from her native language, English. After appearing in several TV series, she firmly established herself in the film industry after being nominated for a Goya Award for “Best Actress” for her role in La hora de los valientes, directed by Antonio Mercero. Nevertheless, she has also made television appearances in series like Raquel busca su sitio, produced by Televisión Española, where she shared the spotlight with Cayetana Guillén Cuervo. She later appeared in films such as Son de mar, directed by Bigas Luna, and A mi madre le gustan las mujeres, directed by Daniela Fejerman and Inés París. Her performance in the latter earned her another Goya Award nomination, and she won the Fotogramas de Plata award for Best Actress for the same role.

In 2002, she reached a significant milestone in her career when she worked with Pedro Almodóvar in Hable con ella, a film that brought her great recognition, where she played a comatose ballerina. In 2003, she appeared in Mi vida sin mí, directed by Isabel Coixet, and En la ciudad, directed by Cesc Gay, as well as the French comedy Mauvais esprit, directed by Patrick Alessandrin. She has since starred in films such as Inconscientes, directed by Joaquín Oristrell, Crónicas, a co-production between Mexico and Ecuador directed by Sebastián Cordero, Malas temporadas, directed by Manuel Martínez Cuenca, and Tirante el blanco, directed by Vicente Aranda. She also appeared in Salvador, directed by Manuel Huerga, and Teresa, el cuerpo de Cristo, directed by Ray Loriga.

Her other works include Belle du Seigneur, directed by Glenio Bonder, Los crímenes de Oxford, directed by Álex de la Iglesia, and Lezione 21, directed by Alessandro Baricco. Between 2008 and 2012, she worked on Lope, directed by Andrucha Waddinton, Lo mejor de Eva, directed by Mariano Barroso, and If I Were You, directed by Joan Carr-Wiggin. In 2013, she reunited with Cesc Gay for Una pistola en cada mano. Between 2014 and 2015, she appeared in Amor en su punto, directed by Dominic Harari and Teresa Pelegri, and Another Me, once again with Isabel Coixet.

In 2016, she starred in the Antena 3 series Pulsaciones, alongside Pablo Derqui, and filmed the movie Muse directed by Jaume Balagueró. In 2018, she joined the Telecinco series Vivir sin permiso, starring José Coronado and Álex González. In 2019, she worked on the Movistar+ series Nasdrovia and the Prime Video series La templanza. In 2023, she premieres the series No me gusta conducir, available on HBO and Movistar, and soon, The Mallorca Files will release its third season on BBC One. Her most recent television project is the series En Fin for Prime Video.

Her most recent film projects include No mires a los ojos, directed by Félix Viscarret, and Chinas, directed by Arantxa Echevarria, which has just been released. Her next project is the feature film Anatema, in which Leonor will star alongside Pablo Derqui, directed by Jimina Sabadú.
